What aids you during the storms of life? When I was going through my second divorce and life felt like a chaotic mess, I found peace on my mat. While I was single and “alone”, but didn’t want to be, I felt Love all around me in yoga. During the scary unknowingness of navigating a pandemic, I’m soaking in a sea of delight on the daily in savasana. That said: Yoga isn’t about feeling blissful, peaceful, and filled for a moment on one’s mat, it’s about experiencing that in ALL your life!
Have you ever heard of being “yoga stoned”? (seems fitting to bring up the week of 420 😂) The lost and found bins at yoga studios are often full, and I can’t tell you how many times a yogi has left after class … and come back 5 minutes later because she/he forgot something. Why? Because there’s something about mindfully moving and breathing in a rhythmic fashion that gets us out of our minds and into a state of delight, wholeness, and calm, so much so that we forget the cares and worries of life ... and sometimes keys, water bottles, or mats! 🤣
The best part of this is realizing bliss, peace, and fulfillment aren’t foreign or momentary experiences, they’re within us ALWAYS. In many ways, yoga is the practice of remembering and returning to these states everywhere and anywhere, by coming back to breath, body, presence, connection, awareness, and heart. It’s truly as simple as breathing slowly and fully with the intention and awareness that this breath will bring greater calm, clarity, courage, confidence, compassion, cheer, and/or connection. Try it out and let us know how it works! YOU rock and I hope you have a beautiful day! 🙏🏽🙌🏽💗💫💙
