A life of kindness is a life in heaven. For years I believed paradise was something we could only taste after we died; and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that during that time I focused my energies on being right. Yet, when I shifted from endeavoring to be correct, to being connected, my whole world exploded with awesomeness! You see listening to people’s stories, being compassionate, expressing outrage for those wronged, tangibly caring for others, sharing encouraging and affirming words, weeping with those brought low, cheering people celebrating on, and so on, lights me up from the inside out … and I don’t think I’m alone.

Honestly, the minute I switch gears from kindness to comparison, competition, judgment, evaluation, negativity, and division, I step into a hellish space. I think this is because Love is the flow of reality. Love isn’t something one does or feels, in that it can be absent, present, or change. It’s a constant. It’s universal and unconditional. It’s a force. It’s the energy that makes the universe go round. So, when we plug our hearts into the current of Love, we align ourselves with the heartbeat of the universe, and heaven pours into us as easily as our breath!

If kindness is a bass note in Love’s music, here’s to letting it’s dope beats carry us into heavenly spaces!
